Ready, Aim, Fire!

Projectile pooping. It's a thing.

God help us,
Tootie and Izzy

HE'S ARRIVED!!!

Little baby Lark is finally here!
Or he was finally here about 2 months ago (oops), but we've been busy. Babies are time consuming! Who would have thought? … Probably the lady with the octaplits. Probably.

Little Larkin (new nickname!) arrived on December 6th at 11:30 in the AM. Labor was an easy 4 hours. 3 1/2 spent in an epidermal induced -happy mode, just watching monitors and chatting with Lark/Tootie. Then 1/2 an hour of work later a wiggling little creature joined us in the room.

It's really weird how up till that point there was just Lark, me, and the doctors in the room and then *POOF!* there's another human in the room. It's one of those things that you know is normal but if you think about it a little more, it gets a little freaky. Kind of like when you pull out a loose tooth growing up, you end up holding a little piece of your head in your hand. It's almost like we've all been trained to dramatically recite Shakespeare without ever knowing it...  Freaky.

Anywho, our little creature is a perfectly healthy, perfectly happy specimen with 10 fingers and 10 toes and really chubby cheeks. God really blessed us.

Thanks go out to all who visited us in the hospital. It was lovely to see all of your smiling faces and get to share those early moments with you.

I had a very unlucky encounter with a badly done epidural which resulted in a spinal headache. Since I am not an owl or a zombie I wasn't really able to observe during the crucial moment, but Lark says that when the man was doing my epidural instead of just one stick in-between the vertebra, the man was just digging around with the needle. A HUGE needle. I saw it before hand.

Okay. Maaaybe not the most accurate picture. It's easier to see how large it really was when compared to other things.

Some of those proportions were a bit off. I didn't have enough room to make the needle big enough.

Anyways, after being released from the hospital I spent almost a week trying to convince myself that the headache was going to go away like they said it would, but it only got worse. Toward the end, before I decided to get the Blood Patch, I was only leaving bed to trip the few feet to the bathroom, and even then only if I had an icepack clutched to my head. Needless to say it made taking care of little Larkin terribly more difficult for both me and big Lark.

Thankfully the blood patch worked heavenly and after a day I only had the small headaches that lack of sleep brings on. End of story. Spinal headaches=0   Izzy=1. Bam!

Adjusting to parenthood hasn't been as hard as we expected it to be. Other than that first initial bad week, things have been pretty smooth sailing. Little Lark is a doll and only cries when he's hungry or needs to be changed or what-not. Only easily fixable things. It's been fantastic!

He's the cutest darn thing I've ever seen. Even more now than before, now that he's smiling. Can't wait till he starts laughing!  Not quite sure I can handle the cuteness but I'm ready to give it a try.

Lots of Love,
~Tootie and Izzy~

P.S. The little guy says "Waaazup?!"
